Megeve Ski Areas & Meeting Points:
Megeve is at the centre of the Evasion ski area and is comprised of 4 main areas that connect Megeve, St Gervais, Jaillet & Combloux; the 4 main ski areas are Rochebrune, Mont d’Arbois, Cote 2000, and Jaillet.
Rochebrune:( Click )
Beginners – Advanced
Rochebrune can be reached from the centre of Megeve and ‘Le Chamois’ ski lift is a gondola lift that takes you from the town of Megeve to a half way station, which is also connected to the Mt d’Arbois ski area by a cable car called the ‘Rocharbois’. The half way station is the bottom of the Rochebrune ski area and where one of the well set up beginner’s areas can be found. From the half way station the next lift is the ‘Caboche’ gondola that takes you to the top of the Rochebrune ski area.
This area has some fantastic skiing with lots of motorway Piste and tree lined Pistes with plenty of choice from cruisy greens and blues to more speedy reds. It is possible to ski from Rochebrune to Cote 2000 which has some great off Piste skiing and more challenging terrain. If you are skiing from Rochebrune to Cote 2000 be aware that there is a drag lift involved to get there that can be busy in the late morning. For other ways to get to Cote 2000 check out the area’s description further below.
Meeting Places
- MEGE3 "The Red Carpet" At the top of ‘Le Chamois’ gondola (from the centre of megeve) there is the halfway station with a red rubber carpet on the floor known as the ‘red carpet’ we meet by the Piste map to the right of the turnstiles.
- MEGE4 At the bottom of the ‘Petit Rochebrune’ cable car, on the snow at the bottom of the stairs under the cable car.
- MEGE6 At the top of the ‘Caboche’ lift and ‘Petit Rochebrune’ cable car (both lifts arrive at the same summit) we meet by the Piste map directly in front of you as you get off of the ‘Caboche’ gondola, or it will be 100m in front of you if you are getting off of the ‘Petit Rochebrune’ cable car.

Beginner – Expert
Mt d’Arbois is the largest area in Megeve and St Gervais, it caters for every skier with plenty of choice and it connects to the areas of Megeve, St Gervais, St Nicolas de Veroce, Mt Joux, and Mt Joly. You can also access Les Contamines skiing backcountry over the top of Mt Joly on one of our off Piste or backcountry courses.
To get to Mont d’Arbois;
From Megeve,
You can take any bus from Megeve displaying either ‘Mt d’Arbois’ or ‘Cote 2000’ they go every 20 mins during the main season. You can view the time table on our website.Alternatively if you are staying closer to Rochebrune you can take the Rocharbois lift across the valley from the half way station at Rochebune to Mt d’Arbois.
From St Gervais,
You can take the ‘St Gervais-Bettex’ gondola to the half way station and then take the next gondola the ‘Bettex-Arbois’ and this will take you to the top of the Mt d’Arbois ski.
Mt d’Arbois has everything to choose from; it starts with a vast beginner’s area and goes up into fantastic terrain both on and off Piste. There is lots of variety at each level from green to black with tree-lined runs on the princess side, to motorway Piste in the St Gervais and Mt d’Arbois main area, then moving up into steeper terrain on Mt Joux and Mt Joly. If you want steep or off Piste and freeride then Mt Joly and its couloirs is the choice for you. ‘See you there!’

Cote 2000:( Click )
Intermediate – Expert
Cote 2000 is north facing so the snow here usually stays in great condition for longer (similarly on Mt Joly) this area has some challenging pistes aswell as cruisy Piste and is a venue on the women’s world cup downhill. There are some great stashes of off Piste skiing to be had here. There is not much in the way of tree lined runs here so in bad weather beware.
To get to Cote 2000
Take the bus from town displaying ‘Cote 2000’ they go every 20 mins during the main season. You can view the bus time table here
Alternatively you can ski to Cote 2000 from the Rochebrune ski area.

Jaillet & Combloux( Click )
Beginner – Strong Intermediate
Jaillet and Combloux are slightly lower than the other areas so the whole area is set among the tree line and the panoramic views from here are unbeatable. The Piste skiing is generally very cruisy blues and greens with the odd Red or black run here and there. Surprisingly there is a fantastic range of terrain for backcountry skiing and touring available from this side of the resort even for multi-day ski touring.
To get to Jaillet and Combloux
If you are staying in Megeve you can take the bus marked ‘Jaillet’ from the central bus station. You can either take a bus marked ‘Megeve’ to the bus station, or walk to the bus station which is just before the Sports centre.
Meeting Place:
Les Contamines( Click )
Beginner - Expert
Les Contamines offers the highest skiing of the evasion domain, being higher there is very little tree skiing so in bad weather the 'white out' conditions really will take their toll. When the weather is good the ski area in Les Contamines has everything for everyone and there is some fantastic off piste terrain with all aspects accessable so even in the spring high quality snow conditions can be found all day long.
